Our Beginning
SILABAG began as something born out of frustration. A frustration directed towards how so much plastic waste came from simple things such as food storage. From there we began to research this problem. We were shocked to see the global scale of plastic waste which was hurting our environment. As the future for tomorrow, we felt the need to take initiative and create a product which could be an alternative for people's current food storage products.
Prototyping
Once we knew the problem, we got to work on the solution. We tested different materials from biodegradable plastic to beeswax but nothing matched the strength and reusability we needed. Then we found silicone. It was safe, long-lasting, heatproof, and perfect for real-life use. We spent months experimenting: sketching, testing, failing, and starting over. Eventually, we landed on a design that worked. A bag that was airtight, easy to clean, and tough enough to use every day. That’s how the first SILABAG was born.
The Future
We’re just getting started. SILABAG was never meant to be just a bag it’s a mindset shift. We’re working on new designs, colours, and expanding our range to help make sustainability a part of everyday life. Our goal? To inspire a new generation of conscious consumers and show that anyone even a few students with an idea can create real change.
